Land Cruiser 70 Station Wagon

This is the story of how I found my very rare, 1989 HJ75 Land Cruiser Troopie...

I always wanted a Land Cruiser, ever since I had to deliver one for which I installed a 2 way radio. My dad also drove a few during his career. Man, what a monster. The rumble of the Four Litre Diesel combustion is enough to give any man goosebumps. UNSTOPPABLE. It literally sounds bigger that it looks, but don't let size fool you. Every time I saw a Land Cruiser drive past I would say to my Girlfriend: "There goes my bakkie..." with a distant look in my eye. Then one day...

Toyota has announced a number of specification changes for the popular Land Cruiser Pick Up and Station Wagon Models. Along with these changes come new nomenclatures for these two vehicles. Going forward the Land Cruiser Pick Up will be known as the LC79 while the Station Wagon will be known as the LC76.

Both of these vehicles have a reputation for being virtually indestructible amongst their owners and in the market place. The latest specifications provide for improved occupant safety and comfort while the petrol powered Pick Up gains a new generation all aluminium V6 engine.

Toyota is the established leader in 4X4 motoring in South Africa and offers the widest range of vehicles to suit a varied range of applications.
