The Toyota Fortuner, South Africa’s most popular sport utility vehicle (SUV), has been further refined for the 2011 model year. The new model boasts a major upgrade and follows similar mid-life activity on the Toyota Hilux, with which the Fortuner shares a platform as part of Toyota’s much lauded International Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle (IMV) programme.
Manufactured in South Africa at Toyota South Africa Motors’ world class Prospecton manufacturing plant the Fortuner has exceeded all sales expectations since it was first introduced in South Africa in 2006.
I have had my Toyota fortuner just over three years now and have never been so happy with a vehicle. I have done various trips to Botswana, Mozambique etc and have had some wonderfull times and lots of memories and stories to tell. However! In the last week a warning light appeared in the dash indicating a problem with the airbags. On Monday, first thing I did was phone my local dealer and enquired about the light. I was immediately told that this is a common problem and as I am out of the initial 3 year warrantee that this would cost me R 1800.00 to repair.

I bought my FORTUNER about two months ago and what a wonderfull car. I am so happy with it, smooth ride, good feul consumption and a lot of space. Taking it to Botswana next week for a hunting trip.

i agree with toyota paint there some spot in paints. i have a grayish brown toyota fortuner v. i just got it out two weeks ago. i observe the painting has some black spots.
André and Yvonne de Villiers were recently crowned the national winners of the Bridgestone SA 4X4 Fundi Challenge 2009. This is the second consecutive year that André, owner of the 4x4 specialists Safari Centre, and his wife have accomplished this achievement in their Toyota Fortuner 3.0 D-4D 4x4.
The Bridgestone SA 4x4 Fundi Challenge is about competitors displaying their driving skills in standard production vehicles. André and Yvonne were the log leaders throughout the competition, consisting of six different legs with mixed obstacles.
The very popular Toyota Fortuner, of which more than 20 000 have been sold in South Africa since its local launch in 2005, is now also available in India.
The internationally acclaimed SUV, which together with the Hilux and Corolla is built at Toyota South Africa’s plant in Prospecton, was launched in New Delhi earlier this week by Toyota Kirloskar (TKM), the local assembler and distributor of Toyota vehicles.
Toyota has announced the introduction of the Fortuner “Epic”, a limited edition model of South Africa’s top selling SUV. The introduction of the Fortuner “Epic” follows on the styling changes incorporated in the diesel models introduced earlier this year and adds a number of cosmetic elements to that package for the 4.0 litre V6 petrol engine Raised Body Automatic and 4X4 Automatic “Epic” models.
