Let’s face it South African consumers have taken a pummelling of late. Economic stress is at an all-time high and the general cost of living is really beginning to take its toll (pun intended).

In the maelstrom of new models and concept cars at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show, one could be forgiven for not noticing the Heritage Editions of three of South Africa’s most loved vehicles – the Corolla, Hilux and Fortuner. In terms of sales, however, these locally-produced models are unashamedly the sales leaders in their respective categories. They’re also proudly South African and to commemorate the company’s historic 50-year milestone in this country, Toyota is making these three models available in limited, 50-year Heritage Editions.

With only a few weeks left before the largest motor show on the African continent opens, Toyota has announced that it will show a concept version of its highly anticipated future technology sports coupe at the Johannesburg Motor Show.

Aygo Crazy

Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) will celebrate the return of the long awaited and highly popular Johannesburg Motor Show with its biggest ever presence at the event.

“The long awaited return of the Johannesburg Motor Show is welcome news for the industry as a whole, as it gives us the opportunity to showcase our newest vehicles and to showcase South Africa as an important hub in the international automotive industry,” says Dr Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of Toyota South Africa Motors and Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation.

Pls can you assist?

Desperate Grandchild

I know this may seem a bit far fetched, but my gran is pretty hardcore, well as far as grans go. Despite being 70 in the shade she is convinced she is still 21 and therefore has not given up doing all the things she love in life. She regularly travels, learnt to play guitar at 60 and as far as grans go she rocks, however there is just one department that is a little worrying - her driving.

Toyota and me

One of the cars that have been around is Toyota. I can base my life on different Toyota's that was in my life.

The Yellow Cressida stationwagon that my uncle used to bring us fresh baked bread every evening. My mom would butter the crust for me. This is how I remember my child hood.

The silver grey Cressida Sedan that my dad had, and would take us fishing in. My first camping trip away from my mom when my dad believed me old enough.

The ice white baby-cress, that my first crush had done up with his dad 15 years ago, which he allowed us to drive on the farm.

Toughest little car ever!

I remember when my sister in-law, Kate, got her Toyota. It was a shiney black Toyota Yaris. It had awesome interior features and was so spacious inside. But by far, my most memorable experience in this super little car was what this Toyota managed to accomplish for me.
