taken in 1992, my profile picture is the current car
My journey with Toyota started in the year i was born (1990). My father bought this Corolla in 1990, The Picture attached was taken in 1992. It is a 1.3L 4speed with now about +-160000km on the clock. My father bought himself another car for his daily driving and gave the Corolla to my mother to transport me and my sister to school and back. I admired the young guys and older gentlemen with their "box shapes”, wanted one so badly when I turned 18, but they are a very rare find, I started looking for a car, watched the classifieds daily for the one that will catch my eye! Then I was surprised to hear that my mother is going to buy a car for her and will sell me the Corolla, I immediately started thinking about the dream that came true, the only problem was that I had to get the money for the Corolla myself. I was still in matric in 2008 but worked at the pharmacy part-time as their delivery guy with the bike. My parents and I talked and decided if I want to I can take a gap year to work fulltime at the Pharmacy to repay my father who took out a loan on his name so that I can have a car. I worked fulltime at the pharmacy in 2009. This was quite tough to know that all the money I earned by working had to go to the bank, but in the end it was all worthwhile to know I have my Toy, even though it wasn’t a “box shape” I was more than happy to drive my car. Memories I built while we owned our Corolla was the holiday trips to Cape-Town with 5 people in the car packed fully and it made it without hassles. I learned to drive in my Corolla, and got my license in my own car, that was the highlight. After 19 years I wanted my car to be resprayed by our next-door neighbours who owns a body shop in Despatch, the great thing about that was the bonding time with my car, because I was allowed to see my car changing in the body shop, the odd dent, rust and everything was done perfectly by them. It has been almost two years that I own my Corolla and it’s still “Leading the way”. I will never sell this car because of it’s sentimental value and everything we went through in this 21 years. I’m proud to tell my friends or anyone that I drive a car as old as me ! My profile picture is the newest photo! Thank you for reading!

My Conquest was my grandmother's. It is a 1993 model, the same as me! Also 1300 4-speed. We have sentimental value to the car because my grandmother passed away. My sister and I both got our licences first time on the Conquest. When I am starting to work and buy my own car, I will give it back to my father. It has now almost 80 000 kms on the clock. Stil have a lot to go!
Very nice car and well look after.
mmm i like the before and after picture, mint condition
have seen kleinbaas at the legal scribante drags previously, you should take it down the strip!
I have owned various makes and models over the years, and have learned the hard way that in the long run the Toyotas give the best long term results. My 1994 Camry automatic has 417 000 on the clock and is still going strong. Obviously with some minor repairs here and there, and my 1992 Corolla 1.6 GLE is going strong at 270 000km-have spent a bit on the Corollas bodywork though. Although being easily able to afford a newer vehicle, I dont plan to replace either of them for the next five years at least. I know of a Corolla [a friends] which has done over 600 000km, and the nearby Toyota dealers informed me that they service a Camry [a metered taxi] which has done over 800 000km. Is there anything else as reliable and durable? Ans-No.
Toyota Corolla 1.6 GLE 1997. Mileage 610 000 in 2012. Hows that! Same engine, minor reperations like cambelt, radiator, clutch, etc.
